Research shows that bio-char used as a soilless substrate can have considerable advantages for greenhouse growers.  As the use of soilless, hydroponic growing methods become increasingly prevalent, researchers are looking for new materials that can help growers save money, produce healthy plants, and contribute to sustainable growing and operating practices. The results of bio-char studies also support the concept of creating a closed loop system whereby biochar produced from crop waste is used as a substrate for soilless, hydroponic food production.
